Biography

Emma Kaye is a leading expert in technology, entertainment, media and sustainable development in Africa. Her visionary approach to community-centered prosperity embraces the ingenuity of the continent’s wisdom, human talent and natural resources - past, present and future. 

 

She serves as a strategic advisor and public speaker for organizations such as IBM, Google, and the Ford Foundation. A serial entrepreneur, Emma was the CEO of Bozza, a global marketplace for African artists; Breakdesign, a mobile studio that became one of Nokia’s top 5 global developers; and Triggerfish Animation, the leading and award-winning animation company in South Africa. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of The Cape Digital Foundation in South Africa that focused on advocating for South Africa’s townships (slums or informal settlements) as Smart Cities of the future.

 

Emma’s work and expertise has resulted in her being recognized globally and across Africa as one of the top women in business, technology, and entertainment. She sat on the board of the Mobile Entertainment Forum as the first African delegate and was the first African to be elected as one of the top 50 women in mobile entertainment globally. She has distinguished herself not only on her subject matter expertise but also through her unique ability to harness inspiration from indigenous wisdom and the unlikely power of subcultures to reframe and inform the creation of more equitable systems.

Emma was born in Zimbabwe, was awarded a Business and Computer Programming degree at Oxford Brookes University and lives in South Africa.
